THE MOST THOROUGH AND COMPLETE STEP 3 REVIEW BOOK ON THE MARKET GUARANTEED!!! March 1, 2009 Jijoe Joseph (NY) 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
This book is the quintessential step 3 review book and the most complete Step 3 source available on the market today. It is the first book that is affordable, and in FULL-COLOR. Talk about bang for your buck, this book to me has everything you need to kill the exam. The pictures in the book are phenomenal, and after having been through all the books avaiable on the market today, I can say for sure, this is your best buy. This book is even good for those of you studying for step 2. The organization of the book is the best part. It is clear, and flows in a logical order. It makes studying fun. Guys there are so many books out there, but who more can you trust than Dr. Conrad Fischer. HONESTLY! He has been doing this for over 20 years, and there is no high achiever on any of the steps that has been successful on these exams without some how coming into contact with his works, whether it be through his books, or his lectures. With tens of thousands of students and physicians trusting his academic expertese, and continually proving to be successful through their medical career, there is no other author in the world I would trust over him. On top of this, it's a BARGAIN!!. Look at what you get for the price. Finally, there is a money-back guarantee!..What's the risk. I bought a copy for my girlfriend, and even though I have finished my exam, I bought a copy for myself after going through the text and seeing how amazing it is. He makes you want to be a student for life. Albert Einstein once said "There is genius in simplicity"..he wasn't kidding. Pick up this book and you will see. GENIUS!!
Spelling mistakes November 5, 2009 Ali Shaikh (USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is excellent review book but lots of mispellings, some are of vital importance. e.g Under "Hematology Chapter", Under folate & B-12 deficiency. It referes as " microcytic" which is not true. It is mAcrocytic.
There are few more. Needs proof reading.

This book is good enough for step II June 21, 2009 Anil Krishna Bachu 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great book by Dr.Fischer, the cardiology, hematology, neurology, psychiatry, nephrology, rheumatology sections are amazing, i guess we need to add points in pumonology and endocrines from other sources like kaplan medicine or u world, gyn is good, obg section is to be improved, i m not sure about surgery ove all it helped out to learn the subjects easily, I am studying for step 2, i felt this book is more than enough for it, though it says for step 3. thanks conrad
Unequivocally Great for step 3 February 4, 2009 Kareem Eid (Pittsburgh , PA) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
the book is a great tool for step 3, its very focused, targeted, and reads very easy, comes in 4 colors on regular paper(my favorite for writing notes, unlike other glistening textbook papers which reflects light and gives a headache). very well organized, the page is not heavily loaded (except some tables) which makes it more convenient to surf through the book
the content of the book covers all the aspects of internal medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, surgery, OBGYN in very nice clear way that matches the format for the CCS cases as regards what to order next and how to write the order, the best is the format is consistent though out the book.
this book relies on the fact that for step 3 its targeting the primary care management of the patients rather than focusing on the pathophysiology and mechanism of the diseases (so you might feel it's not covering every single pathophysiologic fact you've heard about, that's true, but being into step 3, the assumption is you already know the facts)
this book acts as a brush to cumulative knowledge, getting it from the back of the mind to the front , but in a very nice orderly manner
goes the current guidelines , focuses on primary care and has the strongest most condense OBGYN review .
i find it helpful as a review tool to organize my thoughts and to avoid getting overwhelmed with endless knowledge , it's going to be my review book number 1 , specially in the last week before the exam, as compared to other books for step 3 (rapid review, triage, crush) it comes as number 1, followed by Crush (crush is a powerful book but it's too little ) , this book has the advantage of covering more in-depth prep.
Warning: this book is not a textbook , it's a review; most of us forget this fact while evaluating a book, so yeah in comparison to Harrison's it looks inadequate, but for the purpose of retention and the time constrain its more retainable and simulates real patients situation that i see in the ward and systematize my memory for the Step 3 .
bio statistics not covered up in the book :(
awesome book! August 15, 2009 doctor2009 (brooklyn) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
this book was awesome! i'm a pathology resident (ie. no intern year) and this was all i needed to ace the exam. took the exam after 4wks of studying with this book and UW and scored WAY above avg. the book is TAILORED for step 3. the other books out there: crush, step up, FA are much more suitable for step 2.
