This is THE Book for aspiring play therapists! July 19, 2005 A. Sirocky-Meck (Harrisonburg, VA) 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
I was required to read the book for a class I was completing on Play therapy. It was a very easy read, well organized with a good mixture of research and anecdotal information. What makes the book a truly outstanding resource is Dr. Landreth's very candid insight into the practice of play therapy as well as his willingness to share with the reader his very sincere love and respect for children.
Extremely useful and well written May 13, 2007 L. Crammer (Las Vegas, NV) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This book is a must have for any therapist working with children. It brings you into the world of the child and the means of his/her expression.
The art of the relationship by Garry Landreth May 20, 2008 Maria Greene 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This text book is one of the best tools to help one learn the skill of play therapy. It is an easy read and not jumbled by words one can not comprehend. It explains in detail the do's and don'ts of how one interacts with a child through play and it defines the importance of play for a child. And it helps parents to build a relationship with their child through the process of play. I recommend this to anyone that is taking the position as parent, counselor, therapist, and teacher.
Awesome! September 7, 2008 Carolyn C. Hacker (tennessee) This textbook gives an excellent overview of client-centered play therapy as well as detailed instructions on how to engage in play therapy, set up a play room, work with families etc. The best textbook I have seen on the topic!

Interesting October 2, 2008 D. Kocian (TX) I needed this book for class. It is very informative and answers many questions about the field of Play Therapy. It is by a well-known author, so you can consider any of his books a good choice to purchase.
